SED deeply saddened by the death of Professor Edmond Ko Hong Kong (HKSAR) - The Secretary for Education, Mr Michael Suen, today (April 22) expressed profound sadness at the passing of Professor Edmond Ko Inq-ming. "Serving as Chairman of the Curriculum Development Council and a member of the Quality Assurance Council of the University Grants Committee, Education Commission, the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications and the Council of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Professor Ko is deeply involved in the formulation and implementation of education policies in Hong Kong at all levels, in particular the 334 New Academic Structure and the Higher Education Review," Mr Suen said. "Professor Ko was a distinguished scholar and an educationist with passion and vision. He has played a pivotal role in promoting excellence in teaching and learning as well as putting in place robust quality assurance mechanisms. He will be remembered for his tremendous contribution to the education development in Hong Kong. "As a close friend and partner of the Education Bureau, all colleagues join me in extending our deepest condolences to his family." Professor Ko was the Senior Advisor to the Provost, Director of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation, and Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star in 2010.
